Parachuting has complex skills that can take thousands of jumps to master, but the basics are often fully understood and useful during the first few jumps. Parachute canopies have sizes that go from 4.3 sq m , that is 46 sq ft to more than 46.5 sq m , meaning 500 sq ft. Many schools offer video of the freefall and landing. There are three types of first-time jump courses from which a novice can choose from: tandem, static-line and harness-hold. People use to call harness-hold jumps accelerated free fall (AFF) jumps in the United States. Tandem Training generally takes less than 30 minutes, and depending on a number of variables, a student may spend only half a day for the training and the jump. With the Tandem Skydive, both the student and the instructor are attached to the same parachute system. Tandem instructors are required to pass an instructor certification course for the system they jump before skydiving with students. USPA's Accelerated Freefall method of skydiving includes practical instruction on climb-out and exit of the aircraft, freefall, canopy flight, landing, and emergency procedures. After you calculate all your time and cash available for skydiving, you will be able to choose between three first jump skydiving methods. Static line, tandem and AFF Bay Area Skydiving's experienced jumpers have made Bay Area Skydiving a way of life with thousands of freefall skydives.
