Skydiving Bay Area

Though this web site is oriented towards first time skydivers, we welcome both new and experienced jumpers to our little drop zone. People have been using parachutes for hundreds of years, even back to China in the 1100s. Around 1495, Leonardo DaVinci designed a pyramid-shaped, wooden framed parachute. Parachuting has complex skills that can take thousands of jumps to master, but the basics are often fully understood and useful during the first few jumps. All modern tandem skydiving systems use a drogue parachute, which is deployed shortly after leaving the plane in order to slow the freefall speed of two people down to that of a single skydiver. Skydiving jump suits often have handles or grippers, for fellow jumpers to grasp while doing maneuvers in groups. Accelerated Freefall Skydives usaly include instructors maintain a grip on the student's harness to provide in-air instruction as well as assisting with stability if necessary. The student then opens the parachute by around 4,000 feet and pilots it to the landing area. Skydivers always have two parachutes , in order to increase safety. The main parachute is carried in a deployment bag on the back of the skydiver , while the reserve one, a completely separate parachute system is also carried on the back, should there occur any problems with the main parachute. By 1957, the first commercial skydiving schools began to appear, and the National Parachute Riggers-Jumpers, Inc., started in the 1930s, became the Parachute Club of America. PCA renamed itself the United States Parachute Association in 1967. Any type of clothing can be used by jumpers during skydiving. Should you be an enthusiastic jumper, try the special jumpsuits that have better aerodynamic performance. The tandem first-jump training typically costs around $100 less than AFF and about the same as IAD and static-line training. Finding a good skydiving school might be a great first step. You should first investigate very well the school you want to atend. A great thing about skydiving schools is that most of them offer first jump opportunities.
