First Jump Bay Area

Any type of clothing can be used by jumpers during skydiving. Should you be an enthusiastic jumper, try the special jumpsuits that have better aerodynamic performance. We have a Beechcraft King Air A90 as out primary skydiving plane. The tandem first-jump training typically costs around $100 less than AFF and about the same as IAD and static-line training. Once the parachute is opened, (usually the parachute will be fully inflated by 2,500 feet). the jumper can control his or her direction and speed with cords called "steering lines," with hand grips called "toggles" that are attached to the parachute, and so he or she can aim for the landing site and come to a relatively gentle stop in a safe landing environment. AFF training and the first jump can often be accomplished the same day. Many schools offer in-air video of the freefall and landing. The common parachute has three main parts: the main canopy, the reserve canopy and the harness-container system. In the years between the World Wars of the 20th century, barnstormers, typically adventurous orphans and runaways, performed parachute jumps at airshows. In WWII, the first troop insertions with parachutes are credited with turning the tide of the war against the Axis powers. There are several different disciplines to embrace within parachuting. Each of these is enjoyed by both the recreational and the competitive skydivers. Many schools offer video of the freefall and landing. Despite the perception of danger, fatalities are rare in skydiving, each year a small number of people are hurt or killed parachuting world-wide. After enjoying the beauty and serenity of the approximately five to seven minutes of canopy flite you and your tandem instructor will fly the parachute for a soft, easy landing.
